Connecting your wireless laptop to Brophy's system

We recommend you use the Intel PROSet Wireless software to manage your wireless connection. It is required to authenticate to Brophy's wireless system (Windows Wireless networking will NOT work on Brophy's system).

You will need to confirm that your laptop uses an Intel wireless device. If you are unsure if your laptop uses an Intel wireless device please bring your laptop/tablet to the Technology department in K13.

If your computer does use an Intel wireless device you can download the Intel PROSet Wireless software for FREE using this link:

http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-010623.htm

You will need the software for the IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection.

Student email is all new this year.

When school starts in August, 2006, Brophy students will have a new email resource at school. Brophy has signed up with Google to provide our students with hosted Gmail accounts for their school email accounts. These accounts offer 2 GB of data storage and can accept attachments up to 10 MB in size. Students can access these accounts online anytime, and can also configure POP access to allow them to download their mail to an email client such as Outlook. Freshmen students will be instructed on how to configure their Outlook software to use their Gmail accounts for email.

Students can access their email accounts online at: http://mail.google.com/hosted/brophybroncos.org and will use their current Brophy username and password. Student email addresses will now follow a new format:

username@brophybroncos.org

Students will need to log into the Gmail web interface and agree to Google's terms of service to activate their accounts. Once activated the accounts can send and receive email. When logging in enter only your username into the first field.

These are the email addresses that your teachers will use to contact you, and are the addresses registered in Blackboard. Please use this account when corresponding or sending assignments to your teachers, because with 2 GB of available space it can also be used as a place to backup your school work.

The instructions to configure you account for remote POP access and how to set up Outlook to access your Gmail account are in the following PDF files: Enable POP | Configure Outlook

If you have any questions or are experiencing problems with your account please contact Blair Cook at bcook@brophyprep.org - or my office is beside the computer lab on the third floor of the Eller building.
